Today’s mini challenge is going to be a check in. Not a check in with me, but a check in with yourself. When we first began this mini challenge series, I asked for you guys to set your intentions. We created a list of what our personal goals are and what we wanted to achieve with this program. Maybe you have not reached those goals yet, and that’s okay. It is important to remember that this is a marathon and not a sprint. Regardless of where you are at, today we are going to take a moment and celebrate our accomplishments thus far.
Each day I have the privilege and honor of working with each of you at achieving your goals. What I have found though is that most people put their energy and focus forward-looking. We tend to think about how far away from our goals we are as opposed to how far we have come. Unfortunately, this type of mind set can cause us to feel like we are forever chasing a dream and not making any progress. So today, let’s take a step back.
I want you to think back to when you first began flexible dieting. The struggle was real right? Now take a look at where you are today. Focus on how far you have come. Take pride in the lifestyle changes you have made for yourself. The knowledge and skills you have acquired is something that not everyone has. Be proud that you took control of your life.
Make a mental list of all the positive changes you have made. Maybe now instead of stuffing a box of cookies into your mouth you now practice self-control and only eat two. Maybe now instead of going out to eat and binge-eating you practice moderation. You probably find yourself checking the food labels and making sure you know what you are putting into your body. This speaks volumes in terms of success.
Everyone is Different
It is important to remember that not everyone is the same. We all undergo our own journey in life. Do not beat yourself up if your journey moves a little slower than the rest. Just do your best. We all have our own set backs but how you respond to those set backs that makes all the difference.
Focus on the good. Use today’s mini challenge to remind yourself of how far you have come. Keep your goals in mind but do not spend too much energy thinking about how far away from them you may be. Take a look back at how far you come and before you know it, you will reach and maybe even exceed your goals.
